Michael Cantwell's Obituary
Michael P. (Mike) Cantwell, 81, passed away at his home, March 29, 2023, surrounded by family.
He was born July 7, 1941 in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of John P. Cantwell and Florence (Peshek, Cantwell) Hartzell, but lived the majority of his life in Alliance.
Mike graduated from Alliance High School, class of ’59. He then served in the Army, infantry, stationed at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, Company C, sixth battalion, second regiment.
He was an employee of Alliance Machine for several years and then went on to work as a salesman for Damon Chemical Co. He later started his own business, Alliance Allied Service, repairing welding equipment, which he maintained for 17 years.
His most recent employment was at Special Pack, a light bulb packaging company in Green, Ohio, where he worked as a shipping and receiving supervisor for 18 years.
Mike loved fishing and hunting. He spent many past summers on Lake Erie Charters, fishing with friends and family.
In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by sisters Barbara (Baxter) Sineri and Carolyn Baxter.
Mike is survived by partner Diane Cantwell; two daughters, Jeannie (Ted) Hickey and Jennie (Pat) O’Brien; and six sons, Mike (Rachael), Matt, Brian (Toni), Corey (Chrystal), Chris (Krystal) and Nick (Becky).
In addition, he had 11 grandchildren, Lauren and Ben (Hickey), Ellie (O’Brien), Noah, Mac and Cloey (Cantwell), Isaiah (Mathe), Iris and Violetta (Shofroth) and Colton and Isabella (Cantwell).
Mike was a much loved friend to many people and will be greatly missed.
A memorial of remembrance will be held at his home at a later date.
