Michael Warren Alfani's Obituary
Michael Warren Alfani, 59, of Alliance, was pronounced dead on Friday, January 13, 2012 at his home. He was born on June 2, 1952 in Alliance, and lived in the area his entire life. Mr. Alfani was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and he served as an altar boy in his youth. He attended St. Joseph Catholic School through grade 8, and was a 1970 graduate of Alliance High School. Michael previously was employed at the former Persky s Grocery Store and at Lavery Chevrolet. Mr. Alfani was an avid sports fan and was known for his great knowledge of sports facts. The love of his life were his nieces and nephews, which he helped care for as they were growing up. They have fond memories of the trips to the baseball games, and the pizza parties and time spent with him just hanging out. He is survived by sisters & brothers-in-law, Charlene & Charles Yohe of Wickliffe, Sandra Hoopes of Wichita, KS, Linda & Richard Allison of Alliance, and Lucretia Hyett of Gurley, AL. He is also survived by nephews, Charles & David Yohe, Ronald Pettit; nieces, Lynne Ann Hoopingarner, Jolene Daniels, Heather Matthews, Stephanie Gilmore, and Nikki Pettit; great nieces, Rebecca Dorsey, Diana Yohe; and great-nephews, Brandon Stanley, David Yohe, Shane Daniels, Michael Myers, and Kevin Hoopingarner. Michael will be missed by everyone in our family. Preceding him in death were his parents, Ennio and Lucretia (Zorlenzan) Alfani; a brother, Jerry; and a brother in-law, Ron Pettit. The family will receive friends at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Sunday, January 22, 2012, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Monday, January 23, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Fr. Matthew M. Mankowski, as celebrant. Interment will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
