Mervin D. Conrad's Obituary
Mervin D. Conrad, 83, of Alliance, died on Friday, March 16, 2007, at 10:03 p.m. at Aultman Hospital. He was born on March 18, 1923 in Canton, and was a graduate of Middlebranch High School. A resident of Alliance for most of his life, he was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Maximo, where he had served as an usher for many years. Mr. Conrad had previously been a farmer and retired from the Morgan Engineering Company at it s closing, where he had been an electrician for many years. After his retirement, he was a medical currier for many Alliance area doctors. He enjoyed fishing in his past-time and also liked to watch football games on TV, especially the Browns. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Juliette (Gauthier) Conrad, whom he married on May 7, 1949 in Astorville, Ontario, Canada; a daughter, Lynn (Edward) Voytko of Alliance; two sons, Daniel Conrad of Alliance and Rodney (Elisha) Conrad of Canton; five grandchildren, Mark, Renee, Todd, Annette and Samuel; eleven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mae Schmucker of Louisville and Darlene Workinger of Canton; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death was an infant daughter, Theresa Marie Conrad and his parents, Daniel Joseph and D. Mabel Conrad. The family will receive friends at the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 20, 2007 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Maximo on Wednesday, March 21, 2007, at 11:00 a.m., with the Rev. Thomas Ungashick, as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Maximo.
