Mary Margaret Walker's Obituary
Mary Margaret (Blatt) Walker, 99, of Minerva, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, September 22, 2017 at 8:40 a.m. at Community Care Center in Alliance.
Born on March 23, 1918 in Moundsville, West Virginia to Aloysius and Cordelia (Shutler) Blatt, she moved to Alliance in 1942 and then to her home in Minerva in 1965.
Mary was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
She was a musician and played the piano in the country music band "Carnation Ramblers". Mary was an avid gardener and took pride in her cooking, baking and canning.
Survivors include her son, Virgil A. (Mary) Walker of Salem; four grandchildren, Christina Kessler of Sebring, Jeff (Jane) Walker of Bonsall, CA, Gregory A. (Jiami Guo) Walker of Carrboro, NC and Theresa Eckard of Louisville, OH; three great-grandchildren, Jeremy Kessler, Corey Kessler and John Cabassa; one great-great-grandson, Jeremiah Kessler; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death was her husband, Virgil E Walker, who passed away in 1991; two daughters, Patricia Walker and Rosemary E. Walker; her parents; four sisters, Stella Bartholow, Cecilia Hancyzk, Bernadine Miller and Matilda Murrin; and three brothers, Paul Blatt, William Blatt and Charles Blatt.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 28, 2017 from 10:00 am - 11:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Her Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 am with Rev. Matthew J. Mankowski, of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, as celebrant. Burial will immediately follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
