Mary Eleanor Surten's Obituary
Mary Eleanor Surten, 89, fonnerly of Alliance, died on Wednesday, March 20, 2002, in Olney, MD. Born in Avalon, Pennsylvania on July 15, 1912, she lived most of her life in the Alliance area. She was currently residing with her daughter in Olney, MD. A member of Regina Coeli Catholic Church, she retired as a clerk at the fonner Ohliger's Drug Store. She is survived by a daughter, Eleanor Elizabeth Kaul of Olney, MD; a grandson, David Arthur Kaul of Westminster, MD; a granddaughter, Mary Kaul Black of Salisbury, MD; one great grandson; and three nieces and three nephews. Preceding her in death were her husband, Frank Surten on May 7, 1998, whom she married on September 14, 1937; her parents, Otto J. and Mary (Rudy) Ohliger; a sister, Margaret Menges; and two brothers, James Ohliger and Dr. Paul Ohliger. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Regina Coeli Catholic Church on Tuesday, March 26, 2002, at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Fr. J. Patrick Manning as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 26, 2002, from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m.
