Mary Oates' Obituary
Mary Oates, 98, of Alliance, died on Friday, June 22, 2007, at 12:40 p.m. at her home. Born on July 30, 1908 in Ravenna, she had lived in Alliance most of her life. She resided with her son and daughter-in-law. Mary was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and had also been a member of the church choir. She retired from the Star Bronze Company and enjoyed crocheting and reading. Mary is survived by two daughters, Theresa Joseph of Ft. Collins, Colorado and Mary Jo Richardson of Beloit; a son, James (Rose) Oates of Alliance; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Rose Butchelli of Limaville and Josephine Rasile of Alliance; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death was her husband, John Oates on October 20, 1976, whom she married on June 22, 1929; a son, Thomas Joseph Oates in 1953; her parents, Appollonio and Carmina (Cuifo) Rasile; a sister, Grace Hite; and three brothers, Phillip, John and Carl Rasile. The family will receive friends at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Friday, June 29, 2007, from 9:00 - 10:00 a. m, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00 a.m. The Rev. Fr. Donald L. Feicht will be the celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
