Mary Mastroianni's Obituary
Mary Mastroianni, 91, of Alliance, died from heart failure on Saturday, August 25, 2012 at 7:40 p.m. at Alliance Community Hospital. Born on August 4, 1921 in East Liverpool, Ohio, she lived in Alliance all of her life. She was a graduate of St. Joseph Catholic Elementary School and Alliance High School. Mary also received education at the Canton Business School. Mary was a member of Regina Coeli Catholic Church and also was a Charter Member and former President of their Altar & Rosary Society. She also was a member of the Catholic Women s Club. She had previously worked at Alliance Manufacturing Co. in quality control for 45 years and had been a former officer with the Alliance Manufacturing Co. Credit Union. She had also worked at Sugar and Spice Bakery & Catering for many years. Ms. Mastroianni had been active with the Alliance Symphony Orchestra Assoc., Alliance Concert Series, and local art and painting clubs. Her favorite past-time was cooking and baking and she frequently donated cookies and cakes to local charities for their fundraisers, including Regina Coeli Catholic Church and School, the Ulster Project, St. Thomas Aquinas High School, Alliance Community Hospital, and the Domestic Violence Shelter. Survivors include her three nieces, Helen (Richard) Kriegel of Landsdown, VA, Marie (Joseph) Sorge of Salem, OH and Flora (John) Sukosd of Massillon, OH; a nephew, Joseph C. (Susan) Mastroianni of Alliance; her niece-in-law, Charlotte Mastroianni of Alliance; her God-daughter, Betsy (Phil) Waitley of Alliance; and her cousin, Mary Martin of Alliance and her daughter, Lynn (Robert) Raber of East Rochester, OH. Also surviving are many great & great-great nieces and nephews, Gerard (Laura) Mastroianni of Alliance, and their children, Randi, Phillip and Christina; Mary Jo (P.D.) Elber of Mentor, OH, and their children Ashley (Steve) Williston, Patrick Elber, and Rebecca Elber; Mark (Carina) Mastroianni of Cherry Valley, NY and their son, Benjamin; Todd (Jennifer) Mastroianni of Alliance and their children, Grace, Daniel and Alexandra. Preceding her in death were her parents, Joseph and Fortunata (Bevacqua) Mastroianni; and brothers, Charles, Peter, Phillip and Frank Mastroianni; and a nephew, Joseph A. Mastroianni. The family will receive friends at Regina Coeli Catholic Church on Tuesday, August 28, 2012, from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at Regina Coeli Catholic Church on Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at 12:00 noon, with Rev. Fr. Howard Ziemba, as celebrant and Rev. Fr. Patrick Manning as concelebrant. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Alliance.
