Mary Conny 's Obituary
Antoinette Mary (Corbisella) Conny, 95, entered eternal life on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 after many challenging years of declining health. Mary passed from this world as she hoped, in the comfort of her home surrounded by the people and things she loved.
Mary was the oldest of seven girls born to Benjamin A. and Thelma (Brienza) Corbisella on December 5, 1921 in Wellsville, Ohio. She was a graduate of The Immaculate Conception School, Wellsville High School and the Ohio Valley College of Technology.
Mrs. Conny worked for the American Steel Corporation as an accountant. She also worked for Universal Cooperatives and the Alliance Visiting Nurses Association, before retiring.
Mary found the love of her life, Frank William Conny, and the couple married in June of 1956. They welcomed a son, Gary, three years later. Mary was a phenomenal wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was an early career woman, but she kept an immaculate home, created delicious Italian meals, and loved to entertain and have parties where she planned every detail.
Mary was a woman of strong faith and moral conviction. She was a charter member of Regina Coeli Catholic Church, and she practiced her faith devoutly. She made sure to impart this faith to her family, especially her son.
If you knew “Do” (her family nickname) you knew the things she loved in this life. This would start with family, and would include her poodles, the color pink, the Church, stylish clothes, good music, a great cup of coffee, and sensible political debate.
Mary faced every challenge with courage, strength, and dignity. She committed many acts of kindness through the years, that we are just now discovering from grateful benefactors. She was a woman of hospitality.
Preceding her in death were her parents; sisters, Pauline Liberti, and Virginia “Gi Gi” Samuels; her husband, Frank W. Conny; and several other family members.
She is survived by her son, Gary; her sisters, Carmella Lolli, Theresa Erchick, and Josephine DePerro. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, in-laws, and by Bob Aman, who has been another son to her for over forty years.
Mary would absolutely wish to thank many people. These would include her doctors, Mark Hostettler, Marco Corallo, and her retired doctor friend, John Schuster. Special gratitude to Fathers Dyer, Feicht, Monsignor Gaetano and all the friends and family who prayed for her these many years.
Many thanks also to the wonderful caregivers who allowed her to remain at home. There are too many to individually mention, but most recently, Chrissy, Carol, Alecia, Angie, Stacey, Barb, Bonnie, Theresa, Julie, Danielle, and Linda.
Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, February 6, 2017 at 1:00 pm at Regina Coeli Catholic Church. Friends may call at the church from 11:30 am - 12:45 pm, and are encouraged to remain and attend the Funeral Mass. Entombment will immediately follow in the family crypt at Highland Memorial Park Chapel.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Regina Coeli Catholic Church or to St. Thomas Aquinas High School.
“A beautiful woman uses her lips for truth, her voice for kindness, her ears for compassion, her hands for charity, and her heart for love. For those not able to like her, she uses prayer”.
