Martha Offenbecher's Obituary
Martha Offenbecher, 85, of Alliance, and former resident of Salem, passed away on Thursday, October 1, 2009, at 8:02 p.m. at her home with her son and daughter-in-law by her side. She was born on April 1, 1924 in Stuttgart, Germany. She came to the United States in November, 1954. She retired in 1986 from Hutton Nursing Home in Salem where she was employed as a housekeeper. Martha enjoyed gardening, knitting and reading. She is survived by her son, Heinz (Angie) Offenbecher, two grandchildren, Amy Miller of Alliance and Steven Miller, II of Canton; one great-grandson, Ian Offenbecher of Austintown. She was preceded in death by her husband, Josef Offenbecher in 1945, whom she married on July 10, 1944; her parents, Anton and Anna (Kempter) Dirlewanger; and two sisters, Gertrude and Rosa. A private service will be held. There will be no calling hours.
