Martha Gray's Obituary
Martha Gray, 79, of Alliance, passed away on Tuesday, April 14, 2009, at 10:41 a.m. at Alliance Community Hospital with her family at her side. Born on May 10, 1929 in Barnesville, she lived in Alliance most of her life and was employed with the former Royal China Company for 42 years. In her past-time, she enjoyed family, playing cards, reading, listening to country and gospel music and especially cooking. She was always there for her family and friends. She is survived by a daughter, Wanda Underwood of Alliance; a son, Denis (Libby) Gray of Louisville; three grandchildren, Craig Underwood, Lisa Underwood and Megan Shell; three great-grandchildren; nine sisters, Marjorie Fisher of Alliance, Thelma Leppert of Alliance, Alberta Ward of Alliance, Sylvia Walton of Canton, Helen Sheppard of St. Clairsville, Grace Friend of Wheeling, WV, Mary of Barnesville, Verna Stewart of Tippecanoe and Anna Mae Cook of Freeport; two brothers, Gerald and Ernest Chappell both of Alliance; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death was her husband, Clarence F. Gray on June 15, 1987; a son, Frederick Gray on October 21, 1985; her parents, Clyde and Mary (Francis) Sheppard; a sister, Audrey Campbell; and three brothers, William, David and Floyd Sheppard. The family will receive friends at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Friday, April 17, 2009 from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Saturday, April 18, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Eugene Cupp officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park.
