Martha I. Conlon's Obituary
Martha Irene (Gang) Conlon, 100, our beloved mother, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 16, 2018 surrounded by her family.
She was born on October 12, 1917 in Alliance to Charles and Anna Elizabeth (Shaw) Gang. A lifelong resident of Alliance, Martha was a 1936 graduate of Alliance High School and a member of Regina Coeli Catholic Church. During her work life, she was employed at O'Neils and various other retailers in Alliance.
Martha loved to work with her hands. She embroidered beautifully and knit countless items for her family, including afghans for charities such as the Ulster Project and the Alliance Pregnancy Center.
Survivors include her four daughters, Kathleen A. (Gerard) Gross of Killington, VT, Maureen M. Wike of Alliance, Joan M. Conlon of Alliance and Mary C. Conlon of Columbus, OH; two sons, Patrick J. Conlon & Debra McMullen of Grapevine, TX and Paul E. Conlon of Alliance; 8 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Edward J. Conlon, whom she married on June 21, 1941 and who died on September 10, 1991; her daughter-in-law, Elizabeth M. Conlon; her great-grandson, Matthew Ryan Wike; and her parents. Martha was the last surviving member of her generation of both the Gang and Conlon Families.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 from 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home.
Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at 10:00 am at Regina Coeli Catholic Church. Burial will immediately follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Regina Coeli Catholic Church, St. Jude Children's Hospital, Alliance Pregnancy Center, or to the donor's choice
