Marshall H. Scaia's Obituary
Marshall H. Scaia, 92, of Alliance, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at the House of Loreto in Canton, Ohio.
Born on May 25, 1924 in Coroapolis, Pennsylvania to Enrico Rudolf and Augusta Olive (Castellan) Scaia, he lived in Alliance for all of his life.
A 1942 graduate of Alliance High School, he was a veteran of WWII, serving our country in the U.S. Army.
Marshall was employed at Alliance Machine Co. as a Machinist and retired after many years of service.
Marshall was a devoted life-long member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He was a 70-year member of the Knights of Columbus, Council #558 and was a Past Grand Knight. He was also a member of their former bowling league for many years. Marshall was a Eucharistic Minister and Lector at St. Joseph Church. He and his wife Betty were among the founding members of the Perpetual Adoration in St. Dominic's Chapel. He was a member of the Funtastics at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
He was a lifetime member of the Alliance High School Boosters, former coach for Alliance Hot Stove Baseball League and a member of Mended Hearts Club in Alliance.
Survivors include his wife, Betty M. (Ray) Scaia, whom he married on July 21, 1990; three step-children, Mary Beth Zeni of Lakewood, OH, Matthew B. Zeni of Alliance, OH, and Thomas G. Farrell of Alliance, OH; a brother, Sam (Edie) Scaia of Alliance, OH; a sister-in-law, Delores Scaia of Alliance, OH; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death was his first wife, Ann Scaia; his father, Enrico Rudolf Scaia; his mother, Augusta Olive Scaia-Livery; step-father, Henry Livery; and a brother, David Scaia.
A K of C Rosary service will be held on Tuesday, May 30, 2017, at 5:30 p.m. at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm.
His Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at 11:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with Rev. Matthew J. Mankowski as celebrant. Burial, with military honors, will immediately follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
