Mark A. Common's Obituary
Mark A. Common, 83, of North Canton, passed away on Sunday, August 9, 2015 at 8:10 pm at Rose Lane Health Center in Massillon, Ohio.
Born on November 4, 1931 in Alliance, Ohio to James and Elizabeth (Iravonti) Common, he lived in Louisville for most of his life.
A graduate of Alliance High School, he was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, he served our country in the U.S. Marines and was the recipient of 2 Purple Hearts. He was a member of DAV (Disabled American Veterans) Chapter 50.
Mark was employed at Republic Steel Co. in Canton as a Steel Worker and retired after 30 years of service.
Mark was a cabinet maker, loved woodworking and was an all-around handyman and master of gadgets.
Survivors include his wife, Marcella T. (Herron) Common, whom he married on September 25, 1954; three daughters, Mary Ann (Richard) Graham of Acworth, GA, Cheryl (Robert, II) Huprich of Acworth, GA, Lisa (John) Koontz of North Canton, OH; two sons, Richard Common of Louisville, OH, Robert (Lyn) Common of Canton, OH; 20 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; three sister-in-laws, Netta Common of Alliance, OH, Charlotte Adams of Alliance, OH, Karen Common of FL; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents, James and Elizabeth Common; three brothers, Michael Common, Richard Common, Frank Christopher Common.
The family will receive friends at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 12, 2015 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm.
His Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Alliance on Thursday, August 13, 2015 at 10:00 am, with Rev. Matthew J. Mankowski, as celebrant.
Interment, with military honors, will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Alliance.
