Marjorie J. (Chiporo) Porter's Obituary
Marjorie J. (Chiporo) Porter, 87, of Alliance, died on Friday, May 13, 2011, at 10:55 a.m. at Sterling House of Alliance. She was born on January 5, 1924 in Alliance, and lived in Alliance all of her life. Marjorie was a member of Christ United Methodist Church and retired from United Co-Op, where she was employed as a lab technician. Mrs. Porter was a member of the Roma Society and a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the V.F.W. In her past-time, she enjoyed keeping her home, spending time with her family and needle work. She is survived by a sister, Patricia A. (Joseph) Virden; and nieces and nephews, Linda Edwards, Randy Virden, Greg Virden, Mike Virden, Rose Carpenter, Frances Kirby, Danny Sayers, Angie Gelmini, Larry Chiporo Jr., Sam Chiporo, Deanna Couture, Diana Buetow, Penny Derby, Ted Chiporo, and Loretta Wendel. Preceding her in death was her husband, Charles D. Porter on April 14, 2007, whom she married on June 18, 1955; her parents, Sam and Rose (Perry) Chiporo; two sisters, Jenny Borland and Christina Sayers; three brothers, Sam, Thomas, and Larry Chiporo; and a nephew, Gary Borland. The family will receive friends at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 17, 2011 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 18, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. David Hostettler, officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park.
