Marjorie Eileen "Marge" Murphy's Obituary
Marjorie Eileen "Marge" Murphy, 75, of Alliance, passed away on Monday, June 7, 2010, at 3:40 a.m. at Alliance Community Hospital. She was born on August 6, 1934 in Cadiz, and lived in Alliance most of her life. Mrs. Murphy retired as a custodian from the Alliance City Schools and had previously been a school bus driver. Marge was a volunteer at Alliance Community Hospital and Meals on Wheels. An avid Santa Claus collector, she enjoyed reading, gardening and spending time with her family. She is survived by her children, Susan Veres of Friendswood, TX, Debbie Scott of Willowick, Michael Murphy of Rochester, WA, Roger Murphy of Alliance, Jerry Murphy of Winnsboro, SC, Cindy Murphy of Alliance and Steven Murphy of Alliance. She was known affectionately as "Nana" to her 17 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her two sisters, Doris Kazelman of Richmond, VA and Louise Cornett of Crooksville; a brother Melvin Howell of Scio; and a sister-in-law, Ruth Kellogg of Minerva; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death was her husband of 53 years, Charles K. Murphy on January 16, 2008, whom she married on April 2, 1954; her parents, Chester and Susie (Thompson) Howell; a sister, Dorothy Watson; and a brother, Cloyd Howell. The family will receive friends at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Friday, June 11, 2010 from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Saturday, June 12, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Larry Murphy of First Church of God officiating. Entombment will follow at Highland Memorial Park.
