Marie D. Duruttya's Obituary
Marie D. Duruttya, 88, of Alliance, died on Friday, May 11, 2007, at 12:05 p.m. at Alliance Community Hospital. She was born to Louis and Caroline (Wolkan) Tosha, Sr. on December 21, 1918 in Alliance. A lifetime resident of Alliance, she was a 1937 graduate of the January Class at Alliance High School. Marie was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and a member of the Women s Guild. She had also served on the St. Joseph School Reunion Committee. Retiring from the Alliance Manufacturing Co., Marie was a co-founder of the Alliance Manufacturing Co. Ladies Retirees Club, and had served as its President for 30 years. Marie was also a member of the Wm. Penn. Association, Branch 189, where she had written news articles for the Wm. Penn Magazine for many, many years. Her devotional time with her Lord was a very special part of her life. In her past-time, she was an avid supporter to "Jimmy & The Soul Blazers" Band, of which her son "Pug" has been a member for over 40 years. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she leaves behind her husband, Michael P. Duruttya, Jr., whom she married on August 20, 1938, whom he affectionately referred to her as his "Child Bride"; a daughter, Michalene (Freddie) Scott of Alliance; a son, Michael P. "Pug" (Jody) Duruttya, III of Alliance; six grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Elmer (Doris) Tosha of Alliance; and several nieces, nephews & cousins. Marie s radiant smile will be missed by all. Preceding her in death was an infant daughter, Miriam; her parents, Louis and Caroline (Wolkan) Tosha, Sr.; a son-in-law, Gene Warne; two sisters, Ann Kleptach and Helen Edwards; and three brothers, Julius, Louis and Alfred Tosha. The family will receive friends at the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Friday, May 18, 2007 from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Fr. Donald L. Feicht of St. Joseph Catholic Church, officiating. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
