Margaret V. "Peg" (Penrod) Skivolocki's Obituary
Margaret V. "Peg" (Penrod) Skivolocki, 84, of Alliance, died unexpectedly at her home on Monday, November 17, 2008. She was born on July 19, 1924 in Maximo, and lived in the Alliance area all of her life. Peg attended Alliance High School and always told people that she was a graduate of "The School of Hard Knocks". A member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, she was also involved for many years with the Women s Guild, the St. Joseph s Funtastics, and the Victoria Mission. She was also a member of the AARP and past treasurer of the West Branch Area Ladies Ruritan Club. Throughout her life, Peg always enjoyed doing things to help others. She used her creative talents to do good deeds for many local people, as she was a self-employed seamstress. For St. Joseph Church, she had made many things throughout the years, including vestments for the priests, altar cloths, and seasonal banners. In recent years, she enjoyed baking cookies for area Police and Fire Departments and was affectionately known as "The Cookie Lady". Most recently, she had been sewing Lap Blankets for area veterans and also for anyone in need. She is survived by two daughters, Rosemary (Ralph) Flenniken of Avon Park, FL and Cathy Jones of Canton; a son, John (Sandy) Skivolocki of Alliance; a daughter-in-law, Beverly Skivolocki of Alliance; seven grandchildren; one step-grandson; five great-grandchildren; three sisters, Elaine Getz of Salem, Evelyn Jones of Alliance and Carol Davidson of Alliance; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death was her husband, Rudolph J. "Sonny" Skivolocki on January 27, 1993, whom she married on July 19, 1941; a son, David Skivolocki; her parents, Clark and Mary Ann (Wittwer) Penrod; and three brothers, Lawrence, Vernon and Wilbur Penrod. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery Chapel on Friday, November 21, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Msgr. James R. Kolp officiating. Interment will follow services. There will be no calling hours.
