Margaret "Margie" Retone Foster's Obituary
Margaret L. "Margie" (Retone) Foster, 71, of Alliance, went home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at 1:22 p.m. at her home, after her couragous battle with ALS/Lou Gehrig s Disease. Born on October 11, 1942 in Alliance, OH, she lived in Alliance all of her life and was a member of Regina Coeli Catholic Church. She was a 1961 graduate of Alliance High School, and retired from her family s Business, Don Foster & Son Carpet Cleaning Co. Mrs. Foster was a member of the Catholic Women s Club, Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW, and cherishing her 53 years of playing cards with her closest of friends. In her past-time, she was hooked on watching the Hallmark Channel, listening to Fish Radio 95.5 FM, and playing solitaire on her iPad, but she especially loved spending time with her, children, grandchildren and family. Margie was a woman of great faith, devoted to her family and an inspiration to all who met her. We will miss her infectious smile, her contagious laughter, her ability to love her family and her friends unconditionally, and to welcome strangers with open arms. Survivors include her daughter, Melissa "Missy" (Rob) Crider Bertrand of Alliance, OH; her two sons, Eric (Christy) Crider of Corona, CA, and Tim (Jana) Crider of Wheaton, IL; her step-daughter, Vicky (Bill) Collins of Salem, OH; her step-son, Donnie (Sue) Foster of Uniontown, OH; her grandchildren, Dylan Crider, Erica Crider, Derrick Crider, Mathew Crider, Martina Crider, Julia Bertrand, Renee Bertrand; 4 step-grandchildren, Andrea (Chad) Campbell, Ashley (Chris) Evans, Ryan (Cyndi) Foster, and Scott Foster; 9 step-great-grandchildren; her brother, Albert (Pat) Retone of Alliance; niece, Lisa Retone; nephew, Brian Retone; and aunts, uncle & many cousins. Preceding her in death was her husband, Donald Landon Foster on June 30, 2010, whom she married on February 16, 1979; her parents, Frank and Julia (Santoro) Retone Sr.; and a brother, Frankie Retone. The family would like to thank all of the people who supported, cared for and loved Margie throughout her fight with ALS. A very special "Thank You" to Trish Hoover, Judy Honeycutt and Marge Collins, for their daily devotion and care for our mom. We would also like to thank Jody Turner, Cheryl Moore-Sucaciu and Sue Antram of Alliance Hospice. We will forever be grateful to all of you for touching our lives in a very special way. The family will receive friends at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Sunday, January 19, 2014 from 3:00 - 6:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at Regina Coeli Catholic Church on Monday, January 20, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Thomas Dyer as celebrant. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park.
