Marco E. "Mark" Crestani's Obituary
Marco E. "Mark" Crestani, 83, of Alliance, died on Tuesday, January 23, 2007, at 4:15 p.m. at Canterbury Villa of Alliance. Mark was born on March 17, 1923 in Amsterdam, Ohio, and lived in Alliance most of his life. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he served in Germany, France and Italy, and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He also served with the "3 C’s": (the Civilian Conservation Corps.), and was a member of the VFW Post #6730 in Sebring.
Mr. Crestani was a member of Regina Coeli Catholic Church and was also a member of the Dante Alighieri Society and the Alliance Senior Center. He retired from Morgan Engineering, at itt’s closing, after 33 years of service as a key fitter.
Mark enjoyed dancing, gardening, fishing and hunting.
He is survived by his wife, Florence "Flo" Crestani whom he married on November 30, 1942; a daughter, Patti Bycraft of Alliance; a son, Marco (Kathy) Crestani, Jr. of Alliance; five grandchildren, Joe Crestani, Jeff Crestani, Kim Witham, Kelly Crestani and Carrie Bycraft; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Agnes Carli of Sebring; and several nieces and nephews. Mark was preceded in death by his parents, John and Frances (Davia) Crestani; a sister, Lucille Philippi; and two brothers, Joseph Crestani and Beno Crestani.
The family will receive friends at the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Sunday, January 28, 2007 from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and also on Monday from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at Regina Coeli Catholic Church on Monday, January 29, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Fr. Michael Seifert, as celebrant. Interment, with military honors provided by the Sebring VFW Post 6730, will follow at Highland Memorial Park.
