Maggie B. Smith's Obituary
Maggie B. Smith, 81, of Alliance, died on Saturday, August 28, 2010, at 6:55 a.m. at Mercy Medical Center in Canton. She was born on May 29, 1929 in Bessmer, AL, and lived in Alliance since 1947. Maggie was one of Jehovah s Witnesses and faithfully attended Alliance East Congregation for 52 years. Survivors include two daughters, Earlene Wilson-Carter of Akron and Mary Lear-Battle of Columbus; a daughter-in-law, Pinkie Pope of Chicago, IL; 19 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Sam Beckman of Chicago, IL and Jeff Brown of Chester, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Preceding her in death were two daughters, Barbara Daniels and Claudette Henderson; and a son, Tony Henderson. The family will receive friends at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 1, 2010 from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at 11:30 a.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah s Witnesses at 701 W. Main St. in Alliance. Following the service there will be a gathering at the American Legion at 141 W. Main St., Alliance, OH 44601.
