Magdalen Metzger's Obituary
Magdalen Metzger, 88, of Alliance, died on Monday, February 16, 2004, at Crandall Medical Center. A resident of Alliance since 1959, she was born in Collinsville, IL, on July 11, 1915, and attended Collinsville St. Peter and Paul Catholic School. Mrs. Metzger was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Catholic Women's Club. She also belonged to the Elk's Ladies Auxiliary and to the Elk's Widows. She is survived by special friends, Jim and Josie Gazia, and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death was her husband of 55 years, Nelson D. Metzger (they were married on April 26, 1941); her son, Paul J. Metzger; her parents, Anthony Joseph and Anna Eva (Grigatis) Polonis; three sisters, Jewel Hefferly, Isabel Polonis, and Victoria Faitz; and two brothers, Leo Polonis and Peter Polonis. Friends may call at the Sharer-Stirling- Skivolocke Funeral Home on Friday, February 20, 2004, from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Friday, February 20, 2004, at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Fr. Donald L. Feicht as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
