Mabel Jessie Stevens' Obituary
Mabel Jessie Stevens, 80, formerly of Alliance, died on Monday, November 8, 2004, at 8:40 p.m. at her daughter s residence in Chesapeake, VA. Born in Grahn, KY, on February 24, 1924, she lived in Alliance most of her life. Mrs. Stevens is survived by four daughters, Linda E. Gergel of New Franklin, Wanda Sue (Donnie) Johnson of Alliance, Marcella P. (Frank) Garvin of Alliance and Bonnie (James) Packe of Chesapeake, VA; one son, Owen Ray (Jackie) Stevens of Alliance; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; three step grandchildren; 10 step great-grandchildren; a sister, Goldie Stevens of NC; a brother-in-law, John (Betty) Stevens of Alliance; and two sister-in-laws, Audrey and Pearl Stevens, both of Alliance; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Victor A. Stevens on January 28, 1993 (they were married on January 22, 1943); her parents, Israel and Linda Jane Holbrook; a grandson, Donnie Ray Johnson; three sisters, Lois Holbrook, Bertie Bailey and an infant sister; and six brothers, Ray Holbrook, Roy Holbrook, Raymond Holbrook, Richard Holbrook, Wayne Holbrook and an infant brother. The family will receive friends at the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Thursday from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 11:00 a.m. with Elder Burl Middleton and Elder Jim Owens officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park.
