Lynn E. Heldreth's Obituary
Lynn E. Heldreth, 70, of Homeworth, passed away on Saturday, March 9, 2019.
Born on February 15, 1949 in Alliance, to Glen E. and Helen M. (Harsh) Heldreth, he was the fifth generation to live on the family farm in Homeworth.
A 1967 graduate of Marlington High School, he Attended Akron University and graduated from the Ohio State University obtaining his DDS in 1974. He later obtained a Master of Arts Degree in Physical Anthropology from Kent State University.
Dr. Heldreth practiced dentistry in Alliance for 23 years. He also taught anatomy and physiology at Kent State University.
During his enlistment in the Ohio National Guard, he obtained rank of Major, as he served as Base Dental Surgeon for the 179th Airlift Wing at Mansfield Lamb Air Base.
Lynn was a former Trustee, Elder, and Sunday School Teacher at the First Presbyterian Church and he later attended the Alliance Friends Church.
Lynn served his community in many different ways. He volunteered at the American Red Cross, served on the Eastern Stark County Mental Health Board, and was a member and past president of the Alliance Rotary Club where he also served on their board for six years.
Many knew him as “Doc” as he led Troop 177 as Scout Master for 23 years where he received the Silver Beaver Award.
Through his long illness and declining health, Lynn never gave up on his faith in God and fellow man. He looked forward to visits from friends to share stories and laughs.
Survivors include his wife, Deborah (Ward) Heldreth, whom he married on April 27, 1974; his son, Andrew Heldreth of Homeworth; and two grandchildren, Max and Alice.
Preceding him in death was his son, Bryan Steward Heldreth; and his parents.
Private services will be held.
