Loyola Anne "Lyla" (Collins) Hepler's Obituary
Loyola Ann "Lyla" (Collins) Hepler, 95, of Bath, Ohio, peacefully passed away on Thanksgiving evening, November 27, 2014 at Crandall Medical Center in Sebring, Ohio. She was born on October 25, 1919 in Cleveland, Ohio, to Robert and Carrie (Pitts) Collins and grew up on W. 128th St and Lorain in Cleveland. She was a graduate of St. Joseph's Catholic Academy for Girls in Rocky River. She married Herbert Frank Hepler on July 31, 1943, in St. Louis, Missouri. After World War II, her husband's graduation from Fenn College and his employment at B.F. Goodrich, they built a home in Bath, Ohio, where she lived for 57 years. Loyola worked at the Market Basket in Bath and then as a Clerk at the Bath Post Office, and retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 20 years of service. She was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church in Sebring, Ohio, and previously was a member of St. Victor s Catholic Church in Richfield, Ohio. Lyla was a member of Bath Grange, Bath Flower & Garden Club, and various bowling leagues at Riviera Lanes in Fairlawn, Ohio, for several decades. Lyla enjoyed dancing, bowling, fishing, camping and was very active in Bath Community affairs. She and her husband traveled extensively after their retirements. Loyola is survived by her daughter, Nancy (Richard) Rosenthal of Christiansted, St. Croix, USVI; son, Dr. Robert W. (Maryjo) Hepler of Alliance, Ohio; 6 grandchildren, Kristine (Marc) Hammis, Adam (Julie) Rosenthal, Todd (Stephanie) Hepler, Tracy (Jannik) Olsen, Jill (Ryan) Jensen, Jessica VanSwearingen; 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Frank Hepler who died on September 2, 1998; a sister, Coletta (Albert) Benyak of Columbia Station; and her parents. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Ann Catholic Church on Tuesday, December 2, 2014, at 10:00 am, with Fr. Thomas Dyer as Celebrant. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 6265 Columbia Rd., North Olmsted, OH 44070. Arrangements are by Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home.
