Lowell W. Heestand's Obituary
Lowell W. Heestand, 89, of Alliance, died Saturday, May 17, 2008 at 6:38 p.m. at his home. He was born on April 19, 1919 in North Georgetown, and lived in Homeworth most of his life. He was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II. Lowell was a member of the Union Avenue United Methodist Church, the Alliance Senior Center and the Senior Center Chorus. Mr. Heestand retired from Transue & Williams, where he was employed as a hammer man for 41 years. He was also an artist for Dice Sign in Middlebranch for 11 years. He enjoyed music, woodworking, drawing pictures and fixing things. Lowell is survived by his wife, Grace (Grimes) Heestand whom he married on September 10, 1938; a daughter, Connie (Pat) Clelland of Alliance; two sons, R. J. (Barb) Heestand of Bedford, NH and Don L. (Chris) Heestand of Parma; eleven grandchildren, Mitzi and Scott Russell, Craig and Sharlyn Clelland, Tadd and Cara Clelland, Todd and Christine Heestand, Doug and Mela Heestand, Rob Heestand, Laura Heestand, Kim Heestand, Stephen and Tiffany Heestand, Jill and Arthur Kopittke, Matt Heestand; twelve dearly loved great-grandchildren; and dearly loved nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents, Carey and Nancy (Liber) Heestand; two sisters; and five brothers. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Interment will take place at Fairmount Memorial Park.
