Louis Tremoulis' Obituary
Louis Tremoulis, 84, former President of Alliance Federal Savings and Loan Association, died Friday, November 8, 2002 at 5:55 p.m. at the Alliance Community Hospital. Born in Martins Ferry, Ohio on September 13, 1918, to the late George S. and Anna K. (Highwart) Tremoulis, he was a resident of Stark County since 1950 and was a member of Regina Coeli Catholic Church. A graduate of Martins Ferry High School, he received a B.S. Degree in Business Administration from Ohio State University in 1940 and is a member of the Ohio State Alumni Association. Employed in the Financial Industry for 38 years, he was an Examiner for the State of Ohio from 1940 until May 5, 1942 when he entered the service. He served in the U.S. Air Force during WWII until discharged on January 12, 1946. He was then employed as a Federal Examiner of the Federal Insured Savings and Loan Associations until July 9, 1956 when he became Executive Vice President and Managing Officer of Alliance Federal Savings and Loan, later to become President in 1967. Mr. Tremoulis served the company until his retirement in October of 1981, when he became the loving caretaker of his wife, Bernice. Active in community affairs for many years, he was a 25-year member of Kiwanis Club, a member of B.P .0. Elks #467, the Y.M.C.A., Alliance High School Boosters, the United Way, United Commercial Travelers, and a member and Past Secretary of Alliance Country Club and Questers. He was the President and Secretary of the Stark County Savings and Loan Association, and had served on the Management and Legislative Committee of the United States and the Ohio League of Savings and Loan Associations. Survivors include his wife, Bernice C. (Bormann) Tremoulis, (formerly of Wheeling, West Virginia) whom he married on July 31, 1944; his three sons and daughters-in-law, George and Eileen Tremoulis of Knoxville, TN, James and Emily Tremoulis of Winchester, VA, and Dr. Edward and Debra Tremoulis of Lima, OH; a daughter and son- in-law, Carolyn and Henry Bazak of Palos Verdes Estates, CA; six grandsons and six granddaughters. Preceding him in death were his parents, and a sister, Mrs. Carl Sammons. The family will receive friends at the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 12, 2002, from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Regina Coeli Catholic Church on Wednesday, November 13, 2002, at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev. Fr. J. Patrick Manning as celebrant. Burial will take place at Greenwood Cemetery in Wheeling, W. Virginia.
