Lonnie E. Butner's Obituary
Lonnie E. Butner, 76, of Alliance, died on Thursday, March 2, 2006, at 12:45 p.m. at Community Care Center. Lonnie was born in Alliance on December 7, 1929, and lived all of his life in Alliance. A graduate of Alliance High School, he was a U.S. Marine and served in the Korean War. Mr. Butner was a shear operator and retired in 1986 from the Ford Motor Co. in Canton with 33 years of service. Lonnie was a member of the V.F.W. Post 1036. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He is survived by his wife, Beverly L (Pasco) Butner, whom he married on June 25, 1950; two sons, Lonnie B. (Susan R.) Butner and Charles E. (Bonnie) Butner, all of Alliance; three grandchildren, Linsay Butner, Jenna Kiko, and Nicholas Butner; one great-grandson, Tyler Mohler; a sister, Frances Courtney of Alliance; a brother, Lester Butner of Deland, FL; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Buford "Les" and Sophie (Crick) Butner. A Memorial Service, with military honors provided by the Alliance American Legion Post 166 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1036, will be held at Highland Memorial Park Chapel on Wednesday, March 8, 2006, at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Joe Peters, officiating. Interment will follow. There are no calling hours.
