Lillian (Shipp) Davis' Obituary
Lillian (Shipp) Davis, 98, of Alliance, died on Tuesday, April 22, 2003, at Carroll Golden Age Retreat in Carrollton. . Born in Midland, Virginia, on February 4, 1905, she had lived in Alliance since 1920. Mrs. Davis was a cook for more than 60 years, retiring from the former Jeanette's Lounge as a head cook with 28 years of service and the former Charlie's Place. Survivors include seyeral nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Emery Floyd Davis on November 1, 1973 (they were married on August 10, 1946); her parents, Jacob and Ida (Willingham) Shipp; three sisters Suzie Mohr, Vivian Trapani, and Christine McReynolds; and two brothers, Oscar Shipp and Clifton Shipp. Funeral services will be held at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Friday, April 25, 2003, at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Jeremy Halstead officiating. Burial will follow at the Alliance City Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
