LeRoy Reese's Obituary
LeRoy Reese, 85, of 1076 Glenwood, Alliance, died on Friday, June 30, 2006, at 12:50 p.m. at Alliance Community Hospital. LeRoy was born in Laurel Hill, NC, on July 6, 1920, and lived in Alliance since 1956. A veteran of the US Navy, Mr. Reese served during World War II, earning the American Theatre, the WWII Victory Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. LeRoy regularly attended various area churches. A dedicated worker all of his life, he worked two jobs most of the time. He retired after 28 years of service as a pantagraph operator from the Alliance Machine Company. LeRoy loved fishing and enjoyed having a large garden. A devoted family man, he is survived by two sons, Billy (Carol Messenheimer) Reese of Alliance and James (Barbara Jones) Reese of Alliance; four grandchildren, Jason Reese, Jon Reese, Sarah Sesser, and Heidi Reese; and one great-granddaughter, Reese McKenzie Sesser. He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris B. (Fowler) Reese on June 11, 1996, (they were married on May 19, 1940); his parents, Tom and Evelina (Quick) Reese. The family will receive friends at the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 5, 2006, from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. Funeral services will begin at 4:00 p.m. with the Rev. David Hostetler officiating. Interment will take place at Highland Memorial Park.
