LeRoy A. Mayhorn, Jr.'s Obituary
LeRoy A. Mayhorn, Jr., 71, of Alliance, died on Sunday, May 22, 2011 at Select Specialty Hospital in Canton following a brief illness. He was born on May 13, 1940 in Clinton, W.Va. , and lived in Alliance all of his life. LeRoy was a graduate of Timken Vocational High School where he was active in the basketball program. A veteran of the Viet Nam War, he served our country in the U. S. Army with the Military Police. Mr. Mayhorn attended Beechwood Christian Church and retired from the Timken Company after 36 years of service. In his past-time, he enjoyed mowing his yard, reading and playing with his granddaughter. LeRoy is survived by his wife, Judith (Flinner) Mayhorn whom he married on July 6, 1971; one son, Jaime R. (Thelma) Mayhorn of Alliance; one granddaughter, Skyler; two sisters, Beatrice Dean of Massillon and Elenora Isner of Core, W.Va.; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death was his son, Brian R. Mayhorn; his parents, LeRoy A. and Georgia T. (Bennett) Mayhorn; and a sister, Alice Lawhun. The family will receive friends at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Friday, May 27, 2011 from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Saturday, May 28, 2011, at 1:00 p.m. Interment, with military honors provided by the Alliance American Legion Post 166 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1036, will follow at Union Cemetery in Louisville.
