Leroy M. Heacock's Obituary
Leroy M. Heacock passed peacefully Sunday morning, January 20, 2008 at Alliance Community Hospital. He was born May 30, 1927 to Richard and Irene (Burkholder) Heacock. After attending Alliance High School, he was in the Navy from 1943 to 1945, stationed on Guam. He married Beverly Teter on March 27, 1947. He was a faithful husband and father, and became a firm believer in the promises set forth in the Bible. A devout Christian, he was one of Jehovah's Witnesses. He was also an accomplished musician, having a great interest in the banjo and guitar. He worked at American Steel Foundries, and then for Transue & Williams for almost 30 years until he retired in 1990. Along with his wife, he is survived by his children: Tawnia (Sherman) Layne of Alliance; a son Lonnie (Patricia) Heacock of Limaville; and a daughter Heidi Russell of Columbus, Oh. He is also survived by his sister, Darlene Timmerman of St. Petersburg, FL; his brothers, Russell Heacock of Alliance and Roland Heacock of Desert Hot Springs, CA; his grandchildren Shannon Miller of SC, Tangela Polsten of FL, and Matthew Heacock and Carson Heacock of Limaville; and 11 great-grandchildren, including Trenton Cameron, who is like a son to him. He was pre-deceased by his grandchildren Yvonne Layne, Tessa Heacock, and Bret Heacock. A memorial service will be held at a later date. In accordance with Lee's wishes, there will be no funeral service or calling hours. Lee will be deeply missed by his family and friends, and his warm sense of humor and kindness will be missed by all.
