Leonard Dale Broughton's Obituary
Leonard Dale Broughton, 83, of Alliance, died on Sunday, June 10, 2007, at Copeland Oaks Retirement Community. He was born on December 23, 1923 in Alliance, and lived in and around Lexington Twp. until moving to Copeland Oaks in 2005. He was a U. S. Army Air Force veteran of World War II, stationed at Rackheath Air Base in Norwich, England with the 467th heavy bomber group, and received two bronze stars and one silver star. He was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church. Leonard was a mechanic by trade and retired from the city of Alliance in 1986. Mr. Broughton was preceded in death by his wife of 37 years, Betty Jane (Miller) Broughton on November 27, 1985; his parents, Karl and Marie (Leonard) Broughton; and grandson, James Adams. Leonard is survived by his two daughters, Cheryl L. Adams of Alliance and Roberta L. (Allen) Barker of Hewett, WV; a son, Karl E. (Cheryl) Broughton of Stone Mountain, GA; four grandchildren, Tawnya Adams of Alliance, Adriana Carte of Alliance, Katherine Broughton of Stone Mountain, GA and Landon Broughton of Stone Mountain, GA; a great-granddaughter, Jocelyn Carte of Alliance; and longtime friend, Virginia Robart of Alliance. The family will receive friends at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Thursday, June 14, 2007 from 10:00 - 11:30 a.m. Funeral services will be held at the Limaville Cemetery on Thursday, June 14, 2007, at 12:00 p.m. with the Rev. Hugh E. Hookway Jr. and Rev. David Hostettler of Christ United Methodist Church co-officiating. Interment, with military honors provided by the Amvets of Salem, will follow.
