Lawrence E. Walsh, Sr.'s Obituary
Lawrence E. Walsh, Sr., 80, of Alliance, died on Sunday, July 7, 2002, at 10:00 p.m. at his home. Born in Cleveland, on June 9, 1922, he had lived most of his life in Alliance. A U. S. Army veteran of World War II, he was retired from Morgan Engineering in 1983 as a pipe fitter after 38 years of service. He was a member of the Regina Coe1i Catholic Church, the American Legion Post #166 and the V FW Post #1036. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Ronald Slaggy; a son and daughter-in-law, Lawrence and Parma Walsh, Jr., all of Beloit; six grandchildren, Lisa Scott, Marci Tolerton, Toni Slaggy, Aaron Walsh, Stephanie Alterie, Tammy Braunn; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Catherine Gentile of Euclid. Preceding him in death was his wife, Evelyn (Young) Walsh on October 7, 1997 (whom he married on September 3, 1945) his daughter, Mary Louise Jones in 2000; and his parents, Lawrence and Nora (Ryan) Walsh; four sisters; and four brothers. Funeral services will be held at the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Thursday, July 11, 2002, at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Fr. J. Patrick Manning, officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Highland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 10, 2002, from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.
