LaVern "Jackie" Haidet's Obituary
LaVern “Jackie” Haidet, 95, of Alliance, passed away on Saturday, April 25, 2015 at Aultman Hospital in Canton, Ohio.
Born on April 12, 1920 in Mingo Junction, OH, to Thomas and Martha (Andresen) Jackson, she lived in Alliance for most of her life, and was a member of Regina Coeli Catholic Church.
A 1937 graduate of Mingo Junction High School, she also graduated from Mount Union College in 1943.
LaVern was employed as a teacher in the Alliance, Marlington, Wintersville, and St. Thomas Aquinas school systems.
She was a member of the Alliance Area Retired School Teachers Association, the Alliance Woman’s Club, the Alliance Senior Center, the Alliance Country Club, and an honorary member of the Catholic Women’s Club and the Knights of Columbus Women’s Auxiliary.
LaVern was an avid golfer and was a three time women’s champion at the Alliance Country Club and once the Alliance Area Ladies Champion.
Survivors include her daughter, Lori Lin (Al) Krahling of Alliance; two sons, Gregory (Catherine) Haidet of North Canton and Jeffrey (Victoria) Haidet of Foxfire Village, NC; brother-in-law Walter Haidet of Pittsburgh, PA; and grandchildren Carrie Marecek, Jaime Lidderdale, Scott Haidet, Kristen Purdum, Jeffrey Haidet, Brian Haidet, and Erik Krahling; great-grandchildren, Tyler and Jordan Marecek, Rowen and Sadie Haidet, and Carter and Ryder Lidderdale; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death was her husband, LaVerne Joseph Haidet in 2001, they were married in June, 1945; her parents, and her sister Katherine.
The family will receive friends at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 28, 2015, from 7 – 9 p.m.
Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Regina Coeli Catholic Church on Wednesday, April 29, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Joseph Ruggieri, as celebrant.
Entombment will follow at Highland Memorial Park.
