Larry R. Hunt 's Obituary
Larry R. Hunt, 73, of Findlay, and formerly of Alliance, passed away on Sunday, July 22, 2018 at 1:53 pm surrounded by his loving family at Bridge Hospice Care Center in Findlay, Ohio.
Born on January 1, 1945 in Alliance, to Ronald A. and Delores I. (Vickers) Hunt, he lived in Sebring for all of his married life until moving to Findlay in 2013 to be closer to family.
A 1963 graduate of Alliance High School, he also attended Youngstown State University.
Larry was a member of the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ in Alliance and retired from SanCap Abrasives on June 1, 2007 after 24 years of service.
A veteran of the Vietnam War, he served our country in the U.S. Marines and was a member of the American Legion. Larry was also a member of the Sebring Parks & Recreation Board and served as it’s Vice-President for many years. During that time he started the July 4 Sebring Parks Celebration and Fireworks. He coached for many years---baseball for both of his sons and slow-pitch softball for his daughter.
Larry loved to golf, especially with his sons, he enjoyed family vacations and going to sports games to watch his grandchildren play.
Survivors include wife, Carol J. (Turner) Hunt, whom he married on June 12, 1965; three children, Larry Christopher Hunt of Findlay, Todd Michael (Laura) Hunt of Powell, and Jill Elizabeth (Jeremy) Schlarb of Findlay; seven grandchildren, Courtney (Josh) Yoho, Dylan C. Hunt (of the home), Hannah Hunt, Sophie Hunt, Benjamin Schlarb, Drew Schlarb, and Faith Schlarb; a great-grandson, Carter Yoho; his mother, Delores I. Hunt of Alliance; a sister, Bonita "Bonnie" Kuntzman of Alliance; and two nephews and several cousins.
Preceding him in death was his father, Ronald A. Hunt, on August 24, 2012.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 26, from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home. His service will begin at 7:00 p.m. officiated by Mike Wojciechowski, minister.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society for Undifferentiated Pleomorphic Sarcoma Research, www.cancer.org .
