Kenneth L. Wallace's Obituary
"Kenny" Wallace, 79, of Homeworth, died on Friday, September 11, 2009 at 1:20 p.m. at Aultman Hospital, with his family at his side. He was born on October 22, 1929 in Homeworth and lived in this area all of his life. Kenny was a 1946 graduate of Minerva High School and had served our country in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict from January 16, 1951 to January 17, 1953 as a Private First Class. He was a member of the D.A.V. and V.F.W. Post 1036, where he enjoyed spending time with his friends. Retiring from Ohio Edison Company on February 1, 1990 after 42 years of service, Kenny was also the former owner of the Bier Depot. Throughout his life, many people knew Kenny as a very generous man, donating to dozens of organizations. He supported and attended many area sporting events. Kenny thoroughly enjoyed bowling, family gatherings, annual family Disney vacations and his trips to Las Vegas, Mountaineer and Northfield, but the true passion of his life was his granddaughter Megan. Kenny leaves behind two daughters, Sheryl S. Dean and Lori L. Wallace; a son, Ronnie Lee Wallace; a granddaughter, Megan M. Dean; a step-grandson, Seth C. Dean; all of Alliance. He is also survived by three sisters, Ellen Wallace and Betty Wallace, both of Homeworth and Ruthie Haynam of California; several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents, Floyd and Opal (Keister) Wallace; and a sister, Marge McCallum. The family will receive friends at the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 16, 2009, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. and also on Thursday September 17, 2009, from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. Funeral services will be held at the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Thursday, September 17, 2009, at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Jonathan Truax of Science Hill Community Church, officiating. Interment, with military honors provided by the Alliance American Legion Post 166 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1036, will follow at Fairmount Memorial Park. Arrangements are by the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home, 1000 S. Union Avenue, Alliance, Ohio 44601.
