Kenneth W. Sayre's Obituary
Kenneth W. Sayre, 86, of Alliance, died Saturday, February 28, 2004 at 2: 15 a.m. at Canterbury Villa of Alliance. Born in Littleton, W. Virginia on July 23, 1917, he had lived in Alliance for the past 50 years. Mr. Sayre retired from the Genie Company and was a member of the Beechwood United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army and was a member of the American Legion, Post 166 and the Disabled American Veterans Post 50. He is survived by his wife, Edith Marie (Dailey) Hunt Sayre, they were married on January 5, 1980; two daughters, Patricia Anne (David) Emge of Salem, and Terri Marie (Richard) Wylie of N. Benton; a son, Rick (Sue) Hunt of Salem; twelve grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were two sons, Roger Hunt and Virgil Hunt Jr., his parents, Tony and Minnie (Maorison) Sayre; a sister, Josephine Stinson; and three brothers, William, Chester and Joseph Sayre. Friends may call at the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Tuesday from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the Beechwood United Methodist Church on Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev. Scott Williams officiating. Interment, with military honors provided by the Alliance American Legion Post 166 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1036, will follow at Union Cemetery in Louisville.
