Kenneth C. Battershell's Obituary
Kenneth C. Battershell, 80, of Alliance, went home with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, November 6, 2012. Born on August 11, 1932 in Alliance, he lived in Alliance all of his life. A 1950 graduate of Alliance High School, he served our country in the U. S. Navy, during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church. He retired from the Alliance Machine Company, where he was employed as a Supervisor after 32 years of service and then later had retired again from Morgan Engineering Co. In his past-time, he was an avid sports enthusiast and enjoyed traveling, but he especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. Survivors include a daughter, Lori Ohman of Canton, OH; four sons, Doug (Gayle) Battershell of Damascus, Jeff Battershell of Salem, Scott (Wendi) Battershell of North Canton and Ken Battershell of Columbus; 8 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death was his wife, Lois M. (Anthony) Battershell on November 27, 1998, whom he married on April 6, 1957; his parents, Walter and Esther (Saunier) Battershell; two sisters, Betty Freeman and Ramona Chepke; and a brother, William Battershell. The family will receive friends at the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Monday, November 12, 2012 from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Joel Adkins, officiating. Interment, with military honors provided by the Alliance American Legion Post 166 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1036, will follow at Fairmount Memorial Park. Arrangements are by the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home, 1000 S. Union Avenue, Alliance, Ohio 44601.
