Kenneth J. Baker's Obituary
Kenneth Joseph Baker, age 75, of Alliance, passed away Tuesday, January 23, 2007, at Aultman Hospital. He was born September 4, 1931, in Alliance, to the late Raymond and Irene (Dolly) Baker. He served on the Alliance Fire Department for 26 years, retiring in 1985. He was past President of IAFF Union Local 480 and was recognized for sixteen years as lead contract negotiator. He also owned and operated Perma-Dry Waterproofing. He was a member of First Christian Church of Alliance. He belonged to the Alliance Eagles where he enjoyed playing cards with his friends. He loved playing softball, running 10Ks and swimming at the Louisville YMCA. But his favorite activity was walking in the country with his loyal companion, Whiner. Kenneth is survived by his wife, Geraldine (Jeri) Baker, whom he married June 10, 1950. He is also survived by two daughters, Lynnette of Alliance and Cynthia who resides in Columbus; two sons, Michael of Alliance and David who resides in Marlboro Township; and brother William of Alliance. Kenneth also leaves behind five grandsons, Colby, David, Christopher, Nicholas and Cody who reside in Alliance. He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved sister, Donna. The family will receive friends at the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Friday, January 26, 2007, from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Saturday, January 27, 2007, at 1:00 p.m. with Tony Middleton, Mayor of Alliance, officiating. Interment will follow at Marlboro Cemetery.
