Katherine J. "Katie" Cermak's Obituary
Katherine J. "Katie" Cermak, 91, of Alliance, died on Wednesday, November 29, 2006, at 7:45 p.m. at McCrea Manor. Katie was born on October 22, 1915 in East Palestine, Ohio and was a 1934 graduate of East Palestine High School. She moved to Alliance in 1936. Mrs. Cermak was a charter member of Regina Coeli Catholic Church and their Altar & Rosary Society. She was employed for 20 years at the Lewis Engineering Co. and later retired from Hillgreen Lane Pipe Organ. Katie was instrumental in arranging and taking bus trips for bowling events for well over 15 years. She was a member of the Alliance Men and Women Bowlers Hall of Fame and Life Member of Women s International Bowling Congress, and the ABC. A member of the Roma Society and the Saxon Club, she was a former member with the Ladies of the Christopher Columbus Society, the Ladies of the Dante Alighieri Society, Women of the Moose Club, the Alliance Senior Citizens, Steel Workers, AARP, and the Saxon Bowling Traveling League. She is survived by several nieces & nephews; and several grand nieces & nephews. Preceding her in death was her husband, Nick Cermak on August 3, 1968, (they had been married for 28 years); her parents, James and Rose (Tolentino) DeLillo; four sisters, Antoinette Bandy, Anna Pipero, Louise Spino and Mary West; and three brothers, Andrew DeLillo, John DeLillo and Joe DeLillo. The family will receive friends at the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Monday, December 4, 2006, from 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at Regina Coeli Catholic Church on Monday, December 4, 2006, at 10:30 a.m., with the Rev. Fr. Michael Seifert as celebrant. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park.
