Katherine A. "Kitty" Burnip's Obituary
Katherine A. "Kitty" Burnip, 68, of Alliance, died on Sunday, September 21, 2008 at 3:06 a.m. at Alliance Community Hospital following an extended illness. She was born on March 26, 1940 in Sault St. Marie, MI, and lived in Alliance most of her life. Katherine graduated from Central Catholic High School and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Ms. Burnip had worked as an accountant for Hartsock & Hartsock in Sanford, FL and then as an assistant office manager for Babbits Sport Center in Muskegon, MI. A very devoted mother and grandmother she collected frogs, loved reading and ballet and was very interested in politics. She also supported the St. Jude Research Foundation. Katherine is survived by two daughters, Chely Street of Alliance and Beth (Scott) Riordan of Alliance; two sons, Jeff Burnip of Muskegon, MI and Matt (Gina) Burnip of Muskegon, MI; eight grandchildren; two sisters, Patricia Kelly of Florida and Marianne (Robert) Stanfield of Alliance; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents, Donald and Loretta M. (McCarron) Koons; an infant brother, David Koons; a brother, Paul Koons; and several aunts and uncles and cousins. A memorial service will be held at a later date. There will be no calling hours. Interment will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
