Judith Ann Kertel's Obituary
Judith Ann Kertel, age 83, passed away peacefully on Monday, Jan. 8, 2024. She was born Nov. 18, 1940 in Lisbon, Ohio to Harold and Helen (Coalmer) Sayre and was a lifelong resident of Alliance (Class of ’59).
Judy was first and foremost a great stay-at-home Mom. In later years, she was a Stanley Home rep, a Health Habit instructor, and worked at Joanne Fabrics, Coastal Pet Products and American Greetings.
An exemplary seamstress, her passion was sewing. She did alterations, made dresses, draperies, costumes, dolls, doll clothing and crafts, and was a regular at Frosty’s Boutique; Judy also enjoyed bird feeding and gardening at home.
She and Stan were doting grandparents and did it all, locally and out west: daycare, park trips, playing, gifts, teaching and tractor rides.
Survivors include; children Michele Mayle of Louisville, Shawn Kertel of West Virginia, Brent Kertel of Canton, and Melissa Kertel of Canton; grandchildren, Dustin (Jamie) White of Wyoming; and Morgan (Joel) McBrayer of California; sister-in-law Wanda (Stahl) Sayre; brother-in-law Louis Pannunzio; one niece, three nephews, two great nephews and one great niece.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Stanley, sister Janet (Lou) Pannunzio, brother Fred (Wanda) Sayre, daughter-in-law Gayle (Sleighter) Kertel; grandchildren Olivia Kertel of California and Noah Kertel of Arizona; sisters-in-law Stephanie (Joe) D'Amico and Josie (John) Taylor; and brother-in-law John (Beth) Kertel.
