Joseph P. Nolan's Obituary
Joseph P. Nolan, 94, of Alliance, peacefully went home to be with the Lord with his family by his side on Tuesday, March 15, 2022.
Born on June 21, 1927 in East Palestine, to Joseph and Helen (Vanyo) Nolan, he lived in Alliance most of his life.
At age 17 he served our country in the U.S. Navy during WWII on the ammunition ship USS Fomalhaut. He was a member of V.F.W. Post 1036 and the American Legion, Post 166 in Alliance.
After the war ended, he returned to East Palestine High School to graduate with the class of 1947.
Joseph was employed at Monarch Rubber Co. where he retired.
Joseph enjoyed gardening, fishing and hunting.
Survivors include his wife, Edna (Willis) Nolan, whom he married on February 2, 1976; his son, Jeffrey Nolan of Canton; two daughters, Kristine (Eric) Gwynne of Alliance and Kim (Fred) Fassnacht of Norton; five grandchildren, Jodi (Eric) Leffler, Lauren Fassnacht, Daniel Fassnacht, Joshua (Courtney) Yoho and Jason Yoho; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death was his son, Joseph Nolan; his granddaughter, Emily Gwynne; two brothers, John and James Nolan; and his parents.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 19, 2022 from 10:00 am - 11:00 am at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home. His Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 am. Burial, with military honors, will immediately follow at Highland Memorial Park.
