Joseph J. Gladis' Obituary
Joseph J. Gladis, 86, of Alliance, died on Friday, May 2, 2003, at 3:47 a.m. at his home. Born in Passaic, New Jersey on April 20, 1917, he had lived in the Alliance area since 1971. Retiring from Sancap as a supervicor, he was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Council #558. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Army, and was a member of the American Legion Post #166. Survivors include his wife, Carolyn M. (Banker) Gladis, whom he married on April 12, 1947; two daughters, Joan Ann Gladis and Nora E. Penrod, both of Alliance; two sons Joseph J. Gladis of Woodridge, New Jersey and Michael J. Gladis of Bolivar; two grandsons, Jason Gainor and Eddie Weber; a sister, Eleanor Troast of Glendale, Wisconsin; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his'parents, Joseph and Nora (Gilkes) Gladis. Friends may call at the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Monday, May 5, 2003, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Tuesday, May 6, 2003, at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev. Fr. Donald L. Feicht as celebrant. Burial with military honors will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
