Joseph F. Furgiuele's Obituary
Joseph F. Furgiuele, 78, of Alliance, passed away on Saturday, September 7, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family. Born on June 3, 1935 in Alliance, where he lived all of his life. He was a 1954 graduate of Alliance High School and served our country in the U. S. Navy. Mr. Furgiuele was a member of Regina Coeli Catholic Church and of the K of C Council # 558. He retired from the Hoover Company after 31 years, where he was employed as a foreman. He was also a member of the Dante Alighieri Society and the UCT. In his past-time, he enjoyed golfing, playing bocce, running the chains for St. Thomas Aquinas Football Team, jigsaw puzzles and framing them for family and friends, card playing, Sudoku puzzles, and watching sports with anyone at any time. He always enjoyed a good book and growing his tomatoes. Joe will always be remembered for his quick wit and sense of humor. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Anna Mae (Milovich) Furgiuele, whom he married on August 22, 1959; sons, Daniel (Gayle) Furgiuele of Canton, OH, Ray Furgiuele of Alliance, OH and John (Stephanie) Furgiuele of North Canton, OH; four grandchildren, Matthew, Nicholas, Anna Marie & Olivia; brother, Frank Furgiuele of Louisville, OH; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents, Louis and Bernice (Faulkner) Furgiuele; his step-mother, Doris G. Furgiuele; two sisters, Marcia Lewis and Carol Partin; and a brother, Louis Furgiuele, Jr. The family will receive friends at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 11, 2013, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at Regina Coeli Catholic Church on Thursday, September 12, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Joe Ruggieri, as celebrant. Interment, with military honors provided by the Alliance American Legion Post 166 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1036, will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements are by the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home, 1000 S. Union Avenue, Alliance, Ohio 44601.
