Joseph "J.M." Fobean's Obituary
Joseph "J.M." Fobean, 76, of Alliance, died on Saturday, October 18, 2003, at Aultman Hospital. Born in Baden, Pa. on May 23, 1927, he lived in Alliance for most of his life and was a graduate of McKinley High School in Sebring. A veteran of World War II, he had served our country with the Merchant Marines, the U.S. Army and the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a life member of the American Legion, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Mr. Fobean retired from the Alliance Post Office as superintendent of mail and was a member of the Masonic Temple, the Alliance Shrine Club, Loyal Order of the Moose, Fraternal Order of the Eagles and the Roma Society. He is survived by a sister, Doris Scott of Beloit; two brothers, Edward Fobean of Alliance and Donald Fobean of Stow; an uncle and aunt, Allen & Sue Egger of Monaca, Pa.; several nieces and nephews; two great nephews; and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn (Bums) Fobean; his parents, Joseph John and Eve Dorothy (Tranko) Fobean; and one niece. The family will receive friends at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 22, 2003, from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, October 23, 2003, at 11:00 a.m. Interment, with military honors provided by the Alliance American Legion Post 166 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1036, will follow at Highland Memorial Park.
