Joseph A. Arnal, Sr.'s Obituary
Joseph A. Arnal, Sr., 82, of Alliance, died on Monday, July 21, 2008 at 12:30 p.m. at Canterbury Villa of Alliance. He was born on September 7, 1925 in Youngstown, and lived in Alliance most of his life. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Joseph was a U. S. Navy veteran of World War II and was a member of the VFW Post 1036. The former owner and operator of Joe s Highway Service, he later retired from Arnal s Body Shop. Joe was well known for his involvement in restoring antique cars. Through the years he had enjoyed taking his cars to numerous car shows. He was a member of the Antique Auto Association, and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles for both the Alliance and Canton Chapters. In his spare time, Joe also enjoyed fishing. Survivors include a son, Joseph A. (Pat) Arnal, Jr. of Salem, a daughter, Patricia R. (Dennis) Criss of Alliance; a son, William A. (Charlene) Arnal of Alliance; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death was his wife, Marjorie F. (Nemitz) Arnal on July 8, 1990, whom he married on September 15, 1944; his parents, Albert A. and Lucille (Mouraret) Arnal; a sister, Alberta Marson; and a brother, Patrick Arnal, who was killed in World War II. The family will receive friends at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Friday, July 25, 2008 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will begin at 7:00 p.m. with the Msgr. James R. Kolp of St. Joseph Catholic Church officiating. Interment, with military honors provided by the Alliance American Legion Post 166 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1036, will take place at Fairmount Memorial Park.
