Johnn Lee Gafford's Obituary
Johnn Lee Gafford, 72, of Alliance, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, August, 2, 2009, at 4:59 p.m. surrounded by his loved ones. Mr. Gafford was born on August 28, 1937 in Detroit, MI, and lived in Alliance for the past 47 years. He retired from Transue & Williams. Johnn was a U.S. Army veteran. He served with the Ohio National Guard for many years as Lieutenant in the 51st infantry. Mr. Gafford was a member of the American Legion and the V.F.W. He is survived by three daughters, Trudy Gafford of Alliance, Tammy (Bill) LeFever of Marlboro and Tina (David) Walker of Louisville; five grandchildren, Shannon (Chas) Pyle, Heather (Larry) Scarbrough, Kristen LeFever, Elizabeth LeFever and Connor Johnn Gafford; a great-grandson, Landon Scarbrough; three sisters, Joyce, Carol and Linda all of MI; five brothers, James, Ed, Ivan, Steve and Gerald all of MI; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents, Ivan and Virginia (Coates) Gafford; and a brother, Harold Gafford. The family will receive friends at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 5, 2009 from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. and at the First Baptist Church on Thursday, August 6, 2009 from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church on Thursday, August 6, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Gordon Thomas officiating. Interment, with military honors provided by the Alliance American Legion Post 166 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1036, will follow at Highland Memorial Park.
