John O. Welch's Obituary
John Orville Welch, 95, of Alliance, passed away and went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 8, 2022 at 9:10 am at his home in Alliance with his family at his side.
Born on July 24, 1927 in Alliance, Ohio to Homer and Lucille (Hart) Welch, he lived in Alliance all of his life.
John was a member of Regina Coeli Catholic Church. He was also a member of 4th Degree Knights of Columbus and a Past State Deputy and the Knights of the Holy Sepulcher.
An Alliance High School graduate, he also attended Miami University in Oxford Ohio.
A veteran of WWII, he served our country in the U.S. Navy and also served in the Korean Conflict in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the American Legion Post #166 and the VFW Post #1036.
John was employed as a Salesman at Alliance Manufacturing Co. & the Ward Machinery Company.
John was also a member of the BPO Elks #467, the Roma Society, Taylor Craft Flying Club, United Airlines Million Mile Club, Dr. Roach's Outdoor League and was the founder of the Alliance Hot Lunch Program.
John was the Co-Owner of the Blue Olive Jazz Club in Canton with his children.
Survivors include his second wife, Lydia Kisik-Welch; his daughter, Rhonda Welch of Alliance; three sons, Jeffrey Welch of Canton, Timothy Welch of Lebanon, OH and Scott Welch of Jacksonville, FL; three step-sons, Joseph Kisik of Alliance, Andrew Kisik, Jr. of Homeworth and Robert Kisik of Alliance; four step-daughters, Lori Chulik of Alliance, Mary Morgan of Aiken, SC, Kathrine Prime of Derby, England and Linda Stanga of Avon; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his first wife, Virginia Mae Welch on Jan 18, 1997; his parents; two brothers, Herbert and George Welch; a sister, Barbara Hartzell; two step-sons, Manfred Kisik and Kurt Kisik; and a step-daughter, Anna Wilbur.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 13, 2022, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home. His Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, October 14, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial, with military honors, will immediately follow at Highland Memorial Park.
