John B. "Jack" Schrader's Obituary
John B. "Jack" Schrader, 83, of Alliance, died on Saturday, January 2, 2010, at 10:00 p.m. at Aultman Hospital. He was born on December 1, 1926 in Bayard, OH, and lived in Alliance most of his life. He resided in Florida for 19 years and recently returned to Alliance. Mr. Schrader was a graduate of Alliance High School and a 1948 graduate of Cleveland Mortuary School. He was a U. S. Navy veteran serving from 1946 to 1951. Jack and his father-in-law, Earl Walton, opened the Walton-Schrader Funeral Home in 1950. He owned and operated Walton-Schrader Funeral Home until his retirement. A member of the First Presbyterian Church he was also a member of the Alliance Masonic Temple Conrad Lodge, the Alliance Shriners, the Tadmor Temple in Akron and the Alliance B.P.O. Elks #467. In his past-time, he enjoyed boating and fishing and was an avid golfer. Jack is survived by his wife, Lucile A. (Walton) Schrader whom he married on February 11, 1950; two sons, J. Philip (Karen) Schrader of Hilton Head, SC and Jeffrey (Fran) Schrader of Alliance; five grandchildren, Jaime, Lyndsey, Calle, Jesse and Danielle; a great-grandson, Gavin; and a niece, Bobbi (Wayne) Newbury. Preceding him in death were his parents, Walter and Frances (Smith) Schrader; and a sister, Jean Ritzman. The family will receive friends at Walton-Schrader Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 5, 2010 from 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. A Masonic Service will be conducted by the Conrad Lodge # 271, F & A.M., on Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. Funeral services will be held at Walton-Schrader Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 5, 2010, at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. James McCurdy officiating. Interment, with military honors, will follow at Fairmount Memorial Park.
